Six new tenants in six weeks for Middlesbrough market

Middlesbrough’s Dundas Market has signed up six new tenants in only six weeks.

Authentic Indian food, original African garments, traditional and modern sweets, wedding and party planning and gifts, handcrafted jewellery and vintage gifts, and tattoos are all now available in the indoor market, part of Dundas Shopping Centre.

Four of the new tenants have started new businesses in the market, while two have re-located shops from elsewhere in Middlesbrough, enhancing Dundas Market’s reputation as the home of the entrepreneur in the town.  The new lettings come only three months after news that all the units in Dundas Shopping Centre are now fully let.

“We are building clusters of unique, independent food and snack businesses and fashion and clothing retailers, all of which complement each other and can work together, alongside a wide range of other value for money traders,” says Dundas Market Manager David Harris.

“For people wanting to take the first step into market trading we have a small number of Enterprise Units, to help them test out their business ideas by minimising costs and risks.  The rent is as little as £10 per day all in, with no worries about costs for security, utilities and rates.

“For established traders looking for a second location, or a better trading position in Middlesbrough town centre, we still have one or two larger units available.

The new retailers at Dundas Market are Indy’s Grub To Go, offering healthy traditional Indian snack foods, The Sweet Corner with a range of modern and traditional sweets, Demada Chic Boutique, selling original traditional African clothes, Alta Ego offering a range of handcrafted jewellery and vintage goods, Angies Party Den which provides wedding and party planning services, cards and decorations, and Tattoos by Walshy, a local tattoo artist with nearly 30 years’ experience.

At the same time, InterSeller Comics, Ebenezer Hair and Bag Boutique have moved out of Enterprise units into larger units, as demand for their product grows

Teesside independent commercial property consultancy Dodds Brown is the letting and managing agent for Dundas Market and Shopping Centre.
