Office building for sale as “never a better time” to be in Darlington

17 June 2021

Businesses looking to benefit from Darlington’s future economic boom are being urged to look at a modern office building which has just been put on the market.

The building is being marketed by Dodds Brown, the prominent Tees Valley commercial property agency, and Leeds-based JLL. Pioneer House is available to buy, although a long-term letting would be considered.

Dodds Brown’s senior partner Stephen Brown said: “Darlington is going to take off and there couldn’t be a better time to be here.

“Treasury North is going to act like a magnet for businesses and the knock-on effects are going to be massive.”

Recruitment of the first of the 750 Treasury jobs has already begun. They will be joined by more than 600 other civil servants working for the Business and International Trade departments.

It has been reported that they will be based first at the new Feethams House building. Longer term, Treasury North is likely to move to one of a handful of sites elsewhere in the town centre.

“Darlington is going to become a major commercial hub,” said Mr Brown.  “The pandemic has changed the way offices will be used, but there’s going to be a steady stream of business people coming in and out of the town using improved rail services as well as the new flights from Tees Valley Airport. It really is the place you want to be and Pioneer House provides the ideal location.”

It has a floor space of nearly 17,500 sq ft and people working there will benefit from good natural daylight.

Pioneer House comes with parking for 48 cars and it is close to the A66 which provides easy access to the A1 North and South.  Businesses based at Morton Palms Business Park include Bellway, Anabas and ADG Architects.
