Strong media interest in vision for new Middlesbrough leisure destination

07 July 2015

The prospect of a new leisure destination for the centre of Middlesbrough with new restaurant / bar / café units on Albert Road has caught the imagination of the local media.

Letting agent Richard Wilson of Teesside independent commercial property consultants Dodds Brown found himself being interviewed by the Middlesbrough Gazette and TFM radio, with journalists being keen to find out more about the vision for the new leisure destination on Albert Road, adjacent to the new 138 bed Holiday Inn Express which opens on 12th August.

Mr Wilson said: “Our local media campaign is already paying off.  We have received strong interest from local operators, to add to the interest we have already had from national brands.”

The new units are situated on the Albert Road frontage of The Cleveland Shopping Centre and overlook Centre Square and the Town Hall which is due to undergo an £8m refurbishment next year.

Mr Wilson continued: “The units have a fantastic location overlooking Centre Square and there is the vision to create a quality restaurant quarter for Middlesbrough along this section of Albert Road which will also complement the nearby Baker Street and Bedford Street projects.

“The units have generous floor to ceiling heights and a wide pavement for outside seating areas. The new units on Albert Road will provide an opportunity for national and independent operators alike to benefit from a more centrally located leisure destination in the town.”

Units range in size from 1,341 sq. ft. - 3,242 sq. ft. Business rates discounts and grants assistance are available for new operators to the town.  Further information is available from Richard Wilson at Dodds Brown on tel. 01642 244130.
